Armco Machine &
Plating is a one-man (and one-woman), handgun specialized Gun Shop located in western Canada, the central
part of British Columbia. We deal with shooters from across Canada, catering to their
needs in guns, gear, accessories, reloading supplies, and sometimes, just a friendly ear.
I’ve been a full-time pistolsmith since 1994, and part-time for 5 years prior to
that. My background is in the precision machining involved in building racing motorcycle
engines, and, of course, gun tinkering, going back almost 30 years. The transition to
strictly working on handguns was a natural one.
Jean and I are both very active
competitors at matches across Canada. I’m past Section Co-ordinator of IPSC B.C. ,
for many years Vice-Region Director of IPSC Canada, a
certified NROI Range Master, IPSC Training Course Instructor and
Range Officer Instructor. Jean is an IPSC Range Officer. Being this involved lets us keep
up with the latest stuff and get instant feed-back at the matches on innovations,
including many originating right here at Armco.
Some new stuff :)
There has been, over the last year
especially, a transition to gun sales, both handguns and long guns, and I expect
this will continue and grow. We have a great (and fast-changing) array of
new and used guns available to our many customers across Canada and along with
unbeatable pricing, we offer service second to none. Keep an eye on the
site, and if you see something you like, act fast! Email is the best way,
and offers to buy are taken in chronological order. Fax works as well, or
a PM on CanadianGunNutz, and phoning me is the least likely to get a fast response.
Gun repairs will continue, especially
1911 and revolver tune-ups and modifications, as I have a very talented
apprentice in here on a part-time basis. All work is of course inspected
and approved by me before it leaves...
As for custom gun work, this is now
pretty well reduced to a few I am wrapping up - and my own personal projects - cool stuff I have been meaning
to build and some projects that have been sitting in the vault for years.
Watch for some really nice guns, some of which I will of course want to keep :)
Great News!! We are now able to
offer an expert refinishing service for long guns. I have had a retired
gun bluing expert, Jim Ford, doing some fine pistol refinishing for me lately,
including fine old Lugers, etc., and I have been extremely impressed with his
work. I had him redo (metal and wood) my prized but very beat up Husqvarna
Crown Grade .270 and was floored! The gun has never looked this good!
I only wish I'd thought to take a few "before" pics :( You will see a new
section appear on the gun refinishing page with excellent pricing.
Turnaround no more than two weeks!
As mentioned above, we will be closed
to the public - and to phone calls - every tuesday and thursday - That has been
helping a lot!
